The P.W.R.D.F. (Primate's World Relief and Development Fund - the official aid and development agency of the Anglican Church of Canada) has announced it will be accepting donations to its emergency fund to assist with the needs of those affected by the wildfires in the interior of B.C.. St. Barnabas Food Cupboard
We are collecting donations of non-perishable food items in cans or jars for our sister parish, St. Barnabas in uptown New Westminster. These groceries are taken to St. Barnabas to be distributed through their weekly Emergency Food Cupboard to families and individuals struggling to make ends meet. There is a donation basket by the door in the hall. Thank you for your support.
Our Sponsor Children
St. Mary's sponsors two children through The Christian Children's Fund of Canada which, through donors and partners, improves the lives of more than 500,000 children, youth, family and community members in impoverished countries each year.
Maria Antonia Flor Aquino is our newest sponsor child since April 2017. Maria is 5 years old, her birthday is July 6th, and she lives with her parents in Paraguay. Maria attends preschool and likes to play games with her friends. Her mother is a homemaker and her father is a subsistence farmer. The family's income is unable to provide for their basic needs. Sponsorship will provide Maria with an education, health care, and nutritional assistance.
Our other sponsor child is Betselot Tesfaye Abate. Betselot is a 13 year old girl who lives with her aunt in Ethiopia. Her birthday is on February 4th. She walks 1-2 kilometers to school and her favourite subjects are Mathematics and English. Betselot was 10 years old when we became her sponsors in July 2014. Sponsorship provides Betselot with primary healthcare, clean water, school supplies, and a school uniform.
You can help through a contribution in your weekly offering envelope (please indicate on the envelope you would like your donation to go to our sponsor children) or through our Birthday Box donations. Birthday Box takes place once a month during fellowship in the hall when we acknowledge friends and family celebrating birthdays during that month and gladly accept your donation on their behalf to assist Maria and Betselot, their families and communities.
